As the world undergoes profound changes, the need to prevent conflicts and wars and to foster peace, equitable development, and sustainability has become an urgent global priority and a shared aspiration of progressive humanity. The Vietnamese people deeply cherish and uphold the values of peace, adhering to the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law—respecting independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, refraining from interference in the internal affairs of nations, and committing to resolving disputes through peaceful means in accordance with international law.

Vietnam calls on its global friends to continue fostering noble international solidarity, supporting and assisting the nation in its efforts to safeguard, build, and develop the country. In particular, Vietnam hopes that its international partners, especially friends from the United States, will remain alongside the Party, State, and people, working together to overcome and address the lasting consequences of war in a spirit of reconciliation that honors the past while focusing on the future.

Chairman Do Van Chien reaffirmed: "With a steadfast commitment as a friend, a reliable partner, and a responsible member of the international community, Vietnam remains dedicated to the principles of peace, national independence, democracy, and social progress. Together with nations worldwide, Vietnam strives to maintain a peaceful, cooperative, and forward-looking environment that fosters development across the region and the world."

The April 30 victory is the common joy of the people fighting for justice

As a student at Hanoi University, I had the privilege of witnessing and experiencing the overwhelming emotions surrounding the historic victory of April 30, 1975.

At precisely 11:30 a.m. that day, the Voice of Vietnam radio station interrupted its regular programming to deliver a momentous announcement: the liberation army had entered Saigon, storming the Independence Palace. The puppet government's General Staff had fallen, and Duong Van Minh had declared unconditional surrender. The red flag with a yellow star soared atop the Independence Palace—marking the complete triumph of the Ho Chi Minh Campaign.

In the university hall, emotions ran high. Tears, cheers, and embraces filled the space as we absorbed the profound reality: Vietnam was one, the Vietnamese people were one.

Yet, one of the most vivid memories of that victorious day was the sight of Cuban students in Hanoi, rushing to the shores of Hoan Kiem Lake with guitars, tumbadora drums, and trumpets. Their music echoed through the streets as we paraded around the lake in celebration. At first, the people of Hanoi looked on in curiosity, unfamiliar with the spirited dance. But soon, the rhythm of joy transcended boundaries, and the crowd erupted into applause, joining in the jubilant revelry. It was a moment that embodied the universal language of victory.

For Cuba, April 30 was more than just Vietnam’s triumph—it was a shared celebration of justice, a testament to the unwavering solidarity among nations fighting for freedom.

Fifty years ago, who could have imagined witnessing a Vietnam as dynamic as today? Or that former adversaries could transform their relationship into a comprehensive strategic partnership within just three decades?

Since the normalization of relations, Vietnam and the United States have forged a path of remarkable progress. Economic reforms under Doi Moi have fueled rapid growth in bilateral trade, educational exchanges have flourished, and diplomatic ties have deepened into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Today, both nations remain committed to ensuring that their shared seas remain a region of peace, mutual respect, and freedom of navigation.

Vietnam’s struggle for independence ignited national liberation movements across the globe. It proved that even the mightiest empires could be challenged—that sovereignty was not inherited, but earned through perseverance. For the peoples of Asia, Africa, and Latin America, Vietnam became a beacon of hope, demonstrating that unwavering determination and unity could shatter the chains of colonialism and bring freedom to a nation.

But Vietnam’s story did not end in 1975. Over the past five decades, the nation has risen from the devastation of war to emerge as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing economies. The Doi Moi reforms, launched in 1986, set Vietnam on a path of modernization while safeguarding its fundamental values. Today, Vietnam stands as a model of development, boasting a robust industrial base, an expanding healthcare and education system, and an increasingly influential presence on the global stage.

Most importantly, Vietnam has remained committed to the principles that defined its struggle—peace, unity, and international solidarity. Through diplomacy, regional cooperation, and global peacekeeping efforts, Vietnam continues to advocate for stability and mutual respect in the international community.

As the country marks this historic milestone, Vietnam sends a powerful message to the world: its past was shaped by sacrifice, its present is built on resilience, and its future will be defined by peace and progress.

As we celebrate this historic victory, we stand together as comrades and brothers, sharing in the joy and extending our warmest congratulations and deepest respect to the heroic Vietnamese people.

Throughout the struggle for national salvation, independence, and freedom, China and Vietnam fought side by side, offering unwavering support to one another. This solidarity was more than an alliance—it was a profound friendship, a bond etched in history through shared sacrifices. President Ho Chi Minh, during his 12 years of revolutionary activities in China, was embraced with wholehearted support from the Chinese Party and people, strengthening the foundation of our enduring relationship.

During the resistance wars against France and the United States, China stood alongside Vietnam, providing military and political advisors, fully committed to supporting Vietnam’s just cause for independence. The deep-rooted friendship between the two nations—both comrades and brothers—is a legacy carried forward by each generation.

As General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping has emphasized, the heart of Vietnam-China relations lies in the people—their connection, their shared history, and their collective strength. This bond has been actively nurtured through people’s diplomacy, fostering friendships through close cooperation with organizations such as the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations and the Vietnam-China Friendship Association.

Together, we have built meaningful traditions, including the Meeting of Friendship Scholars and Young Generations of Vietnam and China, the Vietnam-China People's Forum, the Vietnam-China Border People's Festival, and the Vietnam-China Youth Friendship Meeting—each serving as a testament to the growing friendship between our nations.

Looking forward, the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries remains committed to deepening cooperation with Vietnam, implementing the shared vision of our top leaders, and advancing the development of a Vietnam-China Community of Shared Future—a partnership of strategic significance.

As we work hand in hand, we reaffirm our dedication to peace, prosperity, and stability—not just for our two nations, but for the region and the world.
