The ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975–2025) was held on May 2 (local time) at the International School of Youth Leadership “Antonio Jose de Sucre”, in the capital city of Caracas.

Attending the ceremony were Rander Peña, Vice President for International Affairs of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV); Venezuelan Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Asia, Middle East and Oceania Tatiana Pugh Moreno; President of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Association Carolus Wimmer; leaders of the Venezuela-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentarians' Group and representatives of leaders of departments, ministries, branches and mass organizations of Venezuela.

Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the PSUV President, President Nicolas Maduro, Peña congratulated the Party, State, Government and people of Vietnam on this important historical event.

Peña emphasized that the Great Victory of Spring 1975 was a victory of justice, of progressive forces and peace-loving people around the world, including the people of Venezuela.

Affirming that the great victory on April 30, 1975 of the Vietnamese army and people is closely associated with the name and career of the great President Ho Chi Minh and the glorious Communist Party of Vietnam, Peña stressed that this victory has been, is and will continue to be a source of inspiration for peoples around the world who are fighting for independence, freedom, self-determination, justice and social progress.

On this occasion, Peña called on the young generation of Venezuela and Latin America, especially the students of the International School of Youth Leadership “Antonio Jose de Sucre”, to follow the example of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh, to strive, be exemplary, pioneer, and become a force in the fight for social justice and progress.

Expressing her honor to attend this meaningful celebration, Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh shared that during her 3 years working in Vietnam from 2020 to 2023, as Ambassador of Venezuela, she had the opportunity to learn and research deeply about Vietnamese history, Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the Communist Party of Vietnam.

Pugh affirmed that over the past 95 years, practice has proven that the wise and correct leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh's ideology are the leading factors deciding all victories of the Vietnamese revolution, and the great victory of the resistance war against the US to save the country is one of the typical examples.

In related news, Venezuela will host a special art programme titled “Forever Ho Chi Minh” in the capital city of Caracas to commemorate the 135 birth anniversary of Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh, said Venezuelan National Assembly Deputy and Deputy Minister of Culture Alí Alejandro Primera.

During a meeting with Vietnamese Ambassador Vu Trung My at the Vietnamese Embassy on May 1, Primera said the programme, scheduled for May 21 at the Bolivar Theatre in Caracas, is Venezuela’s tribute to the great revolutionary leader of the global liberation movement. He announced that he would personally perform iconic songs honouring President Ho Chi Minh during the event.
