According to the Vietnamese Embassy in the Czech Republic, in his opening remarks, Ambassador Duong Hoai Nam emphasized that the conference provided a significant opportunity to strengthen cooperation between educational institutions of the two countries, opening up new prospects for training, research, and innovation.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc praised the efforts and achievements in cooperation between Vietnamese and Czech universities in recent times, particularly the signing of MOUs and agreements. “Educational cooperation should go beyond academic exchange and expand into applied research and business partnerships to enhance quality and effectiveness,” he said.
Speaking at the event, Lukas Martin, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the SPCR, affirmed the Czech Republic’s commitment to supporting international students, including those from Vietnam. He called on enterprises to actively participate in sponsoring scholarships and developing training programs aligned with labor market demands. He also proposed increasing the scholarship quota for Vietnamese students, regarding it as a strategic investment in the future of bilateral cooperation.
Within the framework of the conference, numerous cooperation agreements were signed, notably the proposal to establish the Vietnam-Czech Education and Research Cooperation Center. This initiative lays the groundwork for a sustainable and long-term academic platform. The two sides also agreed to strengthen cooperation in innovation and digital transformation to adapt to global trends.

On the same day, the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, in coordination with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and several universities, organized a seminar titled “Cooperation in Education, Science, Technology, and Digital Transformation.” The event aimed to promote strategic cooperation between the two countries in higher education, scientific research, and digital transformation.
According to the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic, the seminar included thematic discussions on: the current situation and solutions for teaching Vietnamese in the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic; enhancing training and research cooperation between universities in both countries; leveraging the role of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals; and proposing sustainable linkage mechanisms among domestic and international educational institutions.
Speaking at the seminar, Vice President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in the Czech Republic Duong Viet Dung stated that since the Vietnamese community was recognized as an ethnic minority in the Czech Republic (in July 2013), the preservation of the Vietnamese language, culture, and identity has become more urgent than ever.
Education is a crucial channel to convey and preserve these values. He expressed his hope that the seminar would lead to concrete agreements, helping to establish long-term cooperation mechanisms and enhance connections between Vietnamese educational and research institutions and their Czech partners, with the active participation of Vietnamese intellectuals abroad.
Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Phuc highlighted the positive developments in education following Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit to the Czech Republic earlier this year. During the visit, the two countries signed an education cooperation agreement that laid a vital foundation for future development. He affirmed that both sides are promoting collaborative training and scientific research between universities, aiming for breakthroughs in science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation.
He also expressed his desire for more active involvement from the overseas Vietnamese community, particularly intellectuals, in enhancing the nation's human resource quality and scientific research. The Ministry of Education and Training is committed to supporting overseas Vietnamese communities, particularly by enhancing the quality of Vietnamese language education and creating opportunities for overseas intellectuals to contribute to the homeland.
