In his opening remarks, Nguyen Thanh Huy, Counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, emphasized that this annual tournament aims to promote sports and physical fitness among Vietnamese students at the National University of Laos.
He noted that the tournament is not only a healthy and beneficial playground but also helps enhance physical well-being while embodying the core values of sports, such as solidarity, honesty, and sportsmanship—principles that the young generation strives to uphold.
He also highlighted that organizing this football tournament during Youth Month brings more than just sporting value; it also provides an opportunity for union members to demonstrate their sense of responsibility, dedication, and commitment to the proud traditions of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
With thorough preparation and close coordination between the Executive Committee of the Youth Union and the Vietnamese student community at the National University of Laos, he expressed confidence that this year’s tournament would continue to be a meaningful and engaging event, fostering healthy interaction and strengthening the image of a dynamic, confident, and capable young generation.
This year's tournament features five teams competing in a round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the final to compete for the championship.
The final match, along with the closing and award ceremony, is scheduled to take place on March 26, marking the founding day of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.
