Vietnam to Attract More International Students
There are currently about 22,000 international students studying at Vietnamese educational institutions under Agreement scholarships, other scholarship channels and self-financing. This number does not include foreign students who come to Vietnam to study and research in short-term training programs.
Vietnamese educational institutions with international students regularly organize cultural, artistic and sports exchange activities to create conditions for students from other countries to better understand Vietnamese cultural traditions and people. At the same time, these programs also create opportunities for Vietnamese students to understand more about the culture of other countries.

According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training, international students in Vietnam mainly study at university level or participate in short-term courses. Most international students of doctoral degrees are coming from Laos and Cambodia. Some international students from China, Korea, and Japan are majoring in Vietnamese studies.
The number of Lao and Cambodian students accounts for a large proportion of nearly 80% of international students in Vietnam. The remaining 20% of international students come from Korea, China, France, and Japan.
After completing their studies in Vietnam and returning home, many international students actively contribute to developing the relation between Vietnam and their home country in culture, education, diplomacy, economic, politics, etc; thereby, introducing and developing Vietnamese culture and education to the world.
