The verdict was made on August 24.
According to the indictment, Muniandy was found to be in contact with Prakash via WhatsApp since 2017. At the court, she said had once offered to transport gold for Prakash but turned him down. She later agreed to become the liaison with foreign partners to transport goods between countries and was paid MYR 6,000 (US $1,438) for each successful exchange, on top of transportation and accommodation fees.
In late September 2018, Muniandy flew from Malaysia to Vietnam then to Sao Paulo, Brazil, where she was handed over four metal boxes “containing foods and milk” from an African man. All she need to do later was to carry the boxes to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and handed it back to the African man’s accomplices.
Upon her return to Tan Son Nhat International Airport’s border gate, the luggage inspection crew detected 3.3 kg of white drugs inside the four boxes Muniandy brought along.
Muniandy claimed she hadn’t known the boxes were drugs. However, the investigating agency said that there was evidence that held the defendant accountable for her crime. Muniandy committed the crime for self-interest and free traveling.
